Background
The year is 20XX, due to relentless exploitation of fossil fuel in the past 2 centuries, our viable oil reserve is near rock bottom. At the same time, the development of sustainable energy sources such as wind turbines and solar panels had not been fast enough to be economical.
To combat this crisis, our government had turned to the best and brightest to come up with ever more efficient, effective and green transport design. Hence the competition Formula SNGS was started to discover the best innovations in automotive science, engineering and design.
Key InformationWe will work in groups of up to 4 members to research, design and build a self-propelled car (no commercial off the shelf power source like battery or solar panel) based on our knowledge of FORCES (topic 6). Grouping will be assigned by our respective teachers. We have 4 weeks (T1W6-T1W9) to complete your project. In week 10, the top 3 performing cars of each class will take part in the inter-class car race. Wonderful (i.e. delicious) prizes to be won.
This project is about innovation, team-work and sustainable future. This project is also an alternative assessment task which constitute about 10% of our overall science grade.
